Recycling will fuel the future of our planet. With your help.

At Biotane Pumping, we pride ourselves in the environmental impact we make every day as a result of our recycling programs.

For every gallon of biodiesel made, we take more GHG emissions out of the air. The collateral effects of our customers’ efforts to recycle, with Biotane Pumping, has resulted in an unparalleled amount of success in the recycling industry. Below are the greenhouse gas reduction analytics when comparing biodiesel to regular diesel fuel, and how we formulaically derived what our recycling efforts equate to when it comes to cars removed from the road. Also included is the cumulative effect of the combined recycling efforts of Biotane Pumping and our customers.

As a result of our annual production of biodiesel, we take the equivalent of 2,280 or more trucks off the road yearly.

A greenhouse gas/ GHG is a gas in an atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiant energy within the thermal infrared range. This process is the fundamental cause of the greenhouse effect. The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

GHG Emissions:

  • The Greenhouse Effect is a natural process that warms the Earth’s surface. When the Sun’s energy reaches the Earth’s atmosphere, some of it is reflected back to space and the rest is absorbed and re-radiated by greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and some artificial chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). The absorbed energy warms the atmosphere and the surface of the Earth. This process maintains the Earth’s temperature at around 33 degrees Celsius warmer than it would otherwise be, allowing life on Earth to exist.

  • An Enhanced Greenhouse Effect is the problem we now face. Human activities, particularly burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas), agriculture and land clearing, are increasing the concentrations of greenhouse gases, which is contributing to warming of the Earth. Increases in the different greenhouse gases have other effects apart from global warming including ocean acidification, smog pollution, ozone depletion as well as changes to plant growth and nutrition levels. Organic Solutions and our partners are dedicated to fighting the rise of global GHG levels through biofuel production and forest land conservation.

  • Yellow grease or used cooking oil is a 1 to 1 ratio when creating a gallon of biodiesel.

  • Biodiesel has 88% less CO2 emissions than diesel, and about 22.38 pounds of CO2 are produced from burning a gallon of diesel fuel, and there is 2.78 pounds from burning a gallon of pure biodiesel.

  • When burning Biotane Biodiesel, 19.6 pounds of CO2 emissions is saved per gallon compared to regular diesel. To replace 1 metric ton of GHG, you will need to replace 112.47 gallons (2,204.6 lbs / 19.6 lbs of CO2) of diesel with clean burning Biotane Biodiesel.

  • The average diesel vehicle burns 12.5 gallons of fuel per day and produces 279.75 pounds of carbon. For every 14.41 gallons of Biotane Biodiesel produced, one diesel truck is removed from the road for a day (112.47 gallons of Biotane Biodiesel / 7.8 trucks). For each metric ton of GHG saved from using clean burning Biotane Biodiesel, 7.8 trucks are removed per day (2,204.6 lbs in a metric ton / 279.75 pounds).

The first step to reduction is to identify your recyclables. Organic Solutions is here to help.
